Family Sugar Bush Day

Saturday, March 23, 2019
10:00am – Noon

During this 2-hour program, offered only for the brief period when the sap is running, your family will participate directly in each aspect of the maple sugaring process.  You will hike into the woods to drill and tap maple trees, carry buckets of sap back to the evaporator for boiling, and taste the progression from sap to syrup.

During the process, you will learn about Wisconsin Native American history, identifying trees and tree parts, the magic of photosynthesis, the process of evaporation, and measurements.

The program is entirely outside—please dress warmly for the weather!  We strongly recommend good gloves, a hat, and sturdy shoes or warm boots for the trails.  Trails may be muddy or snowy.

Cost: $8 per person..  Reservations required.
